Effective on February 1st, 2009, the city of Manchester began a new agreement with Allied Waste/Republic Services for collection of refuse, recycling and yardwaste. This affects only those residents in the city limits, mainly south of Carman Road.

Refuse Collection
This service will be provided once a week on Thursday for those in Countrylane Woods/Gascony south of Mautenne, and Friday for those north of Mautenne, as well as Carman Acres/Meadows/Woods and Seven Oaks. You can schedule a second weekly pick-up for extra cost. Collection limits are 7 cans or bags or combination totaling 7 items with a weight limit of 60 lbs per container. There is a 95 gallon cart for trash and yard waste available for $3/mo.

Recycling Collection
This service will now be provided every week, on the same day of the week as refuse collection. There is a choice of three different size containers provided by Allied. See Allied guidelines for allowable materials, such as newspapers, glass containers, aluminum beverage containers, tin cans, corrugated cardboard and plastic beverage containers. You can place all of your recycled materials together in one container.

Yardwaste Collection
This service will be provided every week on the same day as your refuse service. Yardwaste can be in brown kraft bags, loose in cans or bundled in twine, but not in plastic bags. There is no longer a limit on number of items. Bundles must be less than 4 feet long, no more than 2 feet in diameter and under 60 lbs. Pickup will run all 12 months.

All Services
Please have items at curbside by 7:00am on your pick-up day. Be sure there is at least 3 feet on all sides of the recycle cart, as it is picked up by an automated arm on the truck. Bulk item pickup will be free twice a year, on the last collection day of the last full week of April and October. You may leave 2 items up to 100 lbs each or 16 cubic feet. Appliances are extra cost and needs to be scheduled and paid for in advance. On a holiday week, your pickup schedule will be one day later for that week, unless the holiday is on the weekend.
