2024 Limb Chipping Service

As a service to all those residing in single-family homes, the city offers free tree limb chipping service twice each year. As in previous years, the collection schedule is based on ward boundaries.  For the most up-to-date info, see www.manchester.gov/limbchipping

The schedule for 2024 spring and fall pick up is summarized below:

Ward One - week of Monday, April 8 and October 7

Ward Two - week of Monday, April 15 and October 14

Ward Three - week of Monday, April 22 and October 21

Your Ward number is listed on your address of the Quarterly Manchester Message Newsletter.

*Guidelines have now been changed to allow residents to put limb piles out at the curb up to 30' in length. The guideline previously only allowed limb piles up to 15' in length.

Brush must be at the curb no later than the Sunday evening prior to the designated day of service for your ward, and not earlier than five days prior to that date. Work crews will make only one pass through the ward beginning at 7:00 am on the designated Monday and will continue until the one pass is complete which may take more than one day.

If you plan to participate in this program, we ask that you abide be the following guidelines:

Tree limbs must be cut in 4' to 12' lengths (the longer length is preferred) and be no larger than 6" in diameter at the base of the cut. The brush pile shall not be over 4' in height at the street edge or over 30' in length along the street edge. Each home may put out only one pile of brush.

Tree limbs must be placed along the curb line of your property, neatly stacked, with the cut ends toward the street. If you have a sidewalk in front of your home, the tree limbs must be stacked behind the sidewalk. Brush must be stacked in this manner or it will not be taken. Limbs may not be stacked on the island of a cul-de-sac. Limbs stacked in this manner will not be chipped.

No limbs shorter than 4' in length, bundled limbs, trash, firewood, stumps/root balls, vines, thorny material, lumber, grass or detached leaves will be chipped or collected.

These program conditions will be strictly enforced.

The wood chips will be converted to mulch suitable for landscaping and will be stockpiled at Seibert Park. The mulch, when available, is for pick up and use by all residents at no charge. Commercial use of this mulch is not allowed.

If you are unsure in which ward you reside or you would like further information regarding this program, please call City Hall at 636-227-1385, ext. 104.
